Daniel Claydon might have to rethink his ambitions after being picked as the winner in the 15-and-under category of our Christmas ghost story competition.

A delighted Daniel, 11, of Evelegh Road, Farlington, said: ‘That’s great, I can’t believe it. I did want to be a scientist when I’m older, but I really like writing.’
Daniel, a pupil in Year Seven at Springfield School in Drayton, explained: ‘Writing the ghost story was a homework task set by my teacher, Miss Bolton.
‘I think I got inspiration from things I had read. It took me about an hour-and-a-half to write the story and then 20 minutes to check it.’
Proud mum Emma added: ‘He loves English and has always been an avid reader.’
