A FAMILY fun day will be held at a Portsmouth church.

Central Point, a service for homeless people, is putting on a barbecue and cricket at St Mary’s Church, in Fratton, on Wednesday.

It’s been arranged because the worthy cause has been named as the charity of the year at Sainsbury’s in Commercial Road.

The charity wants to thank First Wessex for donating £100 towards the cost of food and Father Bob White for his help and suggesting it be held in the grounds of the church.

Portsmouth City Council is also supporting the event.

Hannah Paradise, of Central Point, said it would be a great chance for the homeless community to get together and have fun.
