HIGGINS: I am one of 16 grandchildren spread from the UK to Australia and we are struggling to acquire information regarding the Higgins family.

My grandfather was Capt John Higgins RAMC and the family home was Dovercourt, Furzehill Road, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire.

There is a family connection to the wife of Thomas Ellis Owen, Catherine, and her father James White Higgins. The Ellis Owens also lived in a house named Dovercourt, in Southsea.

I suspect that my grandfather is a great-great-nephew of Catherine Higgins and we have to try to find the more direct relationship through her father, James Higgins.

My grandfather was born around 1875, whereabouts unknown, and my grandmother, Clara Florence Peters, was born in Portland, Dorset on September 9, 1885.

John Higgins died in November 1943 and Clara in January 1970, both in Barnet. They married on April 19, 1904 and had 12 children, 10 of which survived to adulthood.

John Higgins had two sisters, Patricia and Mary. Mary married a Martin Flaherty and they had five sons, three of which were killed in the navy, and two daughters Pat and Mary. The other sister, Patricia, married Mr McGarry.

My other grandfather, Robert Ryle Bagnall, we can trace back to Winchester and King Ethelred.

Any light on the relationship between my grandfather and Catherine Higgins would be appreciated.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Moran Malcolm: Last heard of when he and his wife lived in Stakes Hill road, Purbrook, and they had lived along by The Harbour Lights pub that is now Tesco Extra in Paulsgrove.

He and his wife moved to Drayton three or four years ago and he was going to be a postman. He married Susan Harrison in about 1973 and is about 62 now. They have one son Christian.

PICKERING: Pat (Trish) used to live at, 1a Rostrevor Mansions, Southsea, and was my best friend at school, Southsea Secondary, Francis Avenue, Southsea, in the 50s.

She had a sister, Sue and brother, Tony.

I noticed an obituary for her mother, Myrtle, which was in the Portsmouth News (2007), but it looked as though the information came from Adelaide, Australia.

I would dearly like to hear from anyone who might know of her whereabouts or at best, an address where I could contact her.

BALL: I would like to thank the kind people who rang me recently in my attempt to contact my old friend Mrs Ball. By 5pm on the day my letter was printed, several people had phoned with information.

Mrs Ball's daughter from Chichester also rang to give me details of her mother's whereabouts so that I could contact her.

Unfortunately I have mislaid the details and wonder if she would be good enough to call me again.
