MINISTERS are poised to sign off on a multimillion pound investment deal for Portsmouth.

Portsmouth and Southampton made a joint City Deal bid which will see up to £50m of government cash unlocked for development and job creation.

Greg Clark, the Minister for Cities will visit Portsmouth City Council leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson on Tuesday to sign the deal.

Cllr Vernon-Jackson said he will make it clear the cash will not mitigate for job losses at BAE Systems and that must be dealt with seperately.

Two specific projects in Portsmouth are the development Ministry of Defence owned land at Horsea island and Tipner Firing range as well as specific projects in the neighbouring authority.
