ROYAL Marines musicians from across the area have taken part in the largest ever beating retreat ceremony in London.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh witnessed the musical extravaganza as almost 500 military personnel and musicians put on the spectacle.

The display was in celebration of Prince Philip’s birthday and the Royal Marines’ 350th anniversary.

Marines musicians from Portsmouth and HMS Colllingwood in Fareham were there.
