D-Day 70: Helmet cam footage shows landing craft going ashore

Sailors honing their skills at Wellington Barracks in preparation for their Royal guard duties

‘Royal duties ahoy!’

Have your say

Helmet camera footage shows Royal Marines and Royal Navy sailors going ashore in Normandy using landing craft.

The servicemen and women made the journey 70 years after the D-Day invasion saw the same beaches become battlezones.

The sailors and marines passed the remains of Mulberry harbours off Arromanches yesterday when they used their landing craft to get ashore.

They used watertight armoured vehicles to transport people to the sands before world leaders descended on the town.
