CINEMAS across the country were filled with the tuneful harmonies of Portsmouth Military Wives Choir.

The songstresses belted out ‘In My Dreams’, by Paul Mealor, at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Friday.

They were joined in the performance by Jonjo Kerr, a former soldier from Lancashire who was a finalist in The X Factor.

In a double triumph for chorister Lynne Vinton, she was able to sing to her husband as the performance was broadcast to HMS Diamond.

Chief Petty Officer Alan Vinton, 32, is on the ship on an operation in the Mediterranean.

Lynne, 40, from Rowner, Gosport said: ‘It was absolutely immense.

‘It was humbling and an honour to have the opportunity to sing there.

‘It’s a beautiful building.’
