A NUCLEAR emergency siren will be tested in the Portsmouth area tomorrrow morning.

The Ministry of Defence is letting people know the siren, due to sound at 9.30am, is part of routine testing.

The sound, which will be be heard in the Portsmouth and Gosport area, will last for one minute.

The siren is tested three times a year – on the last working days in February, June and October.

It is part of the nuclear accident response plan for the Portsmouth Naval Base and in accordance with Portsmouth City Council and Gosport Borough Councils’ nuclear safety plan.
