VOLUNTEERS are urgently required to help out at a forces charity in Portsmouth.

Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association Forces Help (SSAFA) supports serving personnel and veterans and their families.

The 127-year-old charity is looking for new caseworkers, who receive local induction training and attend a course when they join SSAFA.

A spokeswoman said: ‘The role of a caseworker is to provide friendly support and advice to eligible individuals, do home visits to assess the needs of clients and appropriate assistance. This could include obtaining financial assistance or accessing special equipment for clients with disabilities. All cases are different and hours are to suit you.’

The charity said a background in the armed forces is not essential, but a driver’s licence and basic computer skills are desirable.
