One of the Royal Navy’s former frigates has been delayed from leaving Portsmouth.

Cumberland was due to be towed from the city today, destined for a Turkish scrapyard.

But some final inspections have delayed the departure of the ship until tomorrow.

She is expected to leave the harbour at around 11.15am.

Cumberland will be the third frigate to leave Portsmouth to be broken up for scrap, after Chatham and Campbeltown.

A date has not yet been set for the departure of Cornwall, the fourth and final frigate.
