WAR heroes are to have their names added to a town’s war memorial.
Corporal Philip Bryant and Petty Officer Marine Engineering Mechanic David Briggs, both of Lee-on-the-Solent, will have their names unveiled at a ceremony on November 11.
It is the first time since the Second World War any names have been added to the memorial, opposite Pier Street, in Lee. The service will be held at 10.30am and Gosport’s mayor, Cllr Chris Carter, will unveil the names before laying a wreath.
Cpl Bryant was killed when his plane crashed into a Malaysian jungle in 1950.
PO Briggs died on board HMS Sheffield in 1982.
