A letter from Lord Nelson that was written aboard the HMS Victory is set to go under the hammer today.

The three-page letter - written in April 28, 1804 - is said to have been written when Lord Nelson was attempting to lure the French and Spanish fleet out of Toulon.

It is expected to be sold for a price between £20,000 and £30,000.

The letter was addressed to Frank Sotheron - captain of the HMS Excellent.

Potential buyers of the historic paper will bid at Hansons in Etwall, Derbyshire later today.
