Lady Suzie Essenhigh who launched the Type 23 frigate in 2002 was also at the ceremony.

The ship’s Commanding Officer, Commander Catherine Jordan, said: ‘Everybody has worked very hard.

‘The partnership between the ship’s company, BAE, the dockyard and all the agencies who have been involved have really pulled together against a number of challenges to deliver the ship on time.

‘It’s appropriate to recognise their hard work and effort.’
