THE men who risked their lives surveying the beaches for the D-Day landings were honoured today.

Television historian Dan Snow led the memorial service to the elite covert surveillance team, the Combined Operations Pilotage Parties (Copp) at the Hayling seafront memorial.

The unit was set up by Lord Mountbatten at Hayling Island Sailing Club during the Second World War.
