ROYAL Navy chefs spiced up an armed forces catering competition with some gourmet cuisine.

Exercise Joint Caterer gave chefs and stewards from all three armed services the chance to show off their culinary skills.

This year the navy came in third, with the Army taking the top spot and the RAF coming second, but all three services were praised by the judges.

Leading Chef Scott Furber, 27, from Gosport, is one of HMS Diamond’s chefs.

He said: ‘We keep going until we get it right, from the taste and presentation to the timing.’
