SHOPPERS will be treated to a performance by the world’s top military musicians on Saturday.
A group of 40 performers from Portsmouth’s Royal Marines School of Music will give an hour-long marching display at Gunwharf Quays, starting at 1.30pm.
The band, whose members are renowned for their bright uniforms and pith helmets, will stop outside Spinnaker Tower to meet the public and play a rousing finale.
The event is being staged to promote a concert at the Portsmouth Guildhall on August 8.
The school’s director of music training Major Jon Ridley said: ‘The concert at the Guildhall is exactly what you’d expect from the Royal Marines Band Service – the world’s best music played by the best military musicians.
‘We’re excited to meet the public this weekend and let them know what life is really like under our famous pith helmets.
‘Where better to do it than Gunwharf Quays?’
Call the Guildhall on 0844 847 2362 to book tickets to the concert.
