A DRUMHEAD ceremony was held for the opening of a new branch of the Royal Naval Malaya and Borneo Veterans Association.

It was held at the Royal Navy Association, in Aston Road, Waterlooville and members were joined by Chelsea Pensioner Patrick Cody for the special occasion.

William Chittil, 77, of Lavender Road, Waterlooville, is a veteran of 40 Commando Royal Marines and the new chairman of the new branch.

He said: ‘It went very well. We had a new standard which was dedicated by our chaplain Paul Miles-Knight.

‘We were very lucky to be joined by David Neil the association’s chairman.’

The group meets on the first Saturday of each month from midday.
