The boarding teams on board Portsmouth-based HMS Westminster have been put through their paces in a major international exercise.

The Type 23 frigate is working as part of the Cougar 13 task group and has been operating alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Lieutenant Glen Kerrigan said: ‘Working with our allies has greatly benefited both nations from a training and cultural perspective. It has set us up well for future boarding operations in the region.’

The Royal Navy and Royal Marines boarding teams were given the task of boarding a Saudi vessel playing the part of a pirate ship.
