A MEMORIAL to mark the 70th anniversary the Cockleshell Heroes’ formation and their raid in Bordeaux will be unveiled on Sunday.

It will be revealed by Lord Paddy Ashdown at the grounds of the Royal Marines Museum, Eastney, amid a parade and service.

Lord Ashdown said: ‘I am delighted that the courage and daring of the Cockleshell Heroes is being very publicly recognised with the unveiling and dedication of a memorial at Eastney.’
