BRITAIN’S prime minister has praised the work of an army officer from Fareham.

David Cameron has expressed his gratitude for all the efforts of Major Iain Wallace, of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.

His comments came after a question by Fareham MP Suella Fernandes, who had met Maj Wallace on a trip to the British Army Training Unit Suffield, in Calgary, Canada.

At a session in Parliament, Ms Fernandes urged the PM to explain if he would be investing in feature equipment and technology for armed service personnel like Maj Wallace.

Responding, the prime minister said: ‘First of all, let me thank Major Iain Wallace for the work that he does.

‘Crucially, the two per cent (of the nation’s GDP) will make sure that all those who join our splendid armed forces in the coming years will know that they will have world-beating equipment and technology at their fingertips.

It came as a major review of the armed forces’ budget is due to be revealed next month.
