CONCERNED residents called the police after seeing lights in the sky late at night.
A number of Lee-on-the-Solent residents called officers to report a suspicious incident between 10.30pm and 11pm last night.
But the lights, which could be seen from Howe Road, were actually flares from a military exercise at nearby Browndown training area, off Browndown Road in Gosport.
An officer at Defence Training Estate South East confirmed that a military exercise had taken place in the area last night.
