FAREHAM Shopping Centre will host a ceremony to mark Remembrance Day on November 11.

At the launch of this year’s Poppy Appeal, Vicki Hollins, Fareham’s appeal co-ordinator, said: ‘The 11th is the actual Armistice Day, and this year the date lines up with all the 11s, so I wanted to do something to mark it.

‘We will have the service here by our stand outside Boots with a bugler and a standard bearer at 11am.’

The mayor of Fareham, Councillor Trevor Cartwright was also there to back the launch. He said: ‘It’s so important to support the national Poppy Appeal.

‘A lot of people saw the appeal as being about the two world wars but it’s about much more than that, there are so many veterans of the Falklands and Iraq and Afghanistan now.’
