SAILORS on board HMS Dauntless interrupted their journey to the Falklands to rescue a man who had collapsed on his yacht.

A medical team on board the Type 45 destroyer received a request for help from the Brixham coastguard in Devon after a 45-year-old man was taken ill on his boat.

The medics boarded the yacht at around 7pm on Friday and helped transport the man onto a rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose.

Portsmouth-based HMS Dauntless left Portsmouth earlier this week for a deployment to the Falkland Islands.
