THE crew of HMS Edinburgh have opened the ships’ gangways to the public this weekend.
She returned to Portsmouth yesterday after her final deployment before being decommissioned.
HMS Edinburgh is the last of the Type 42 destroyers to be decommissioned.
Crew members described being on board for her final tour - a farewell tour of Liverpool, London and Edinburgh, which coincided with the 70th anniversary commemorations of the Battle of the Atlantic - as a ‘real privilege’.
The ship, accessed via Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, will be open to the public today and tomorrow.
