school pupils paid a visit to a navy base to learn about nuclear marine engineering.

The group of 50 were at HMS Sultan in Gosport as part of a week-long introduction to the Royal Navy.

While there they had a go at deactivating a communications device from behind a barrier – cutting a wire within a minute.

The pupils enjoyed a formal mess dinner at HMS Collingwood in Fareham and stayed on board HMS Bristol, moored in Portsmouth.

The 13 and 14-year-olds had travelled down from York.
