MEMORIES of the First World War and villagers who fought in the battle were discussed at an event in Titchfield.
More than 500 people went to see the Titchfield Remembers Exhibition at the parish rooms.
Phil Burner, one of the organisers, said: ‘Lots of people came along.
‘The idea was to put up the information we have been able to research on the internet and in museums.
‘It was just a way to get more information from descendants, which we have got.
‘We have a list of contacts that we will follow up on.’
There are 41 servicemen honoured in a memorial list at St Peters Parish Church, Church Street, Titchfield, but the group have discovered another 10 men who should be added to the list.
The group used the 1911 census to find the homes of the soldiers.
The occupants will be asked to create memorial window displays in time for the carnival in October.
Mr Burner added: ‘We are not able to interview the servicemen.
‘We are now interviewing the grandchildren. But it was quite a successful day.’
The group hopes to get enough information to produce a booklet.
