Building navy ‘war-winners’ could renew Portsmouth’s dockyard

VETERANS of the Second World War paid tribute to fallen comrades in a moving remembrance ceremony.

More than 400 people of all ages attended the service yesterday at the Cenotaph in Portsmouth’s Guildhall Square.

Tomorrow a parade, wreath laying and service will take place in Guildhall Square from 10.30am to to 11.45am.

There will also be a ceremony at the Royal Naval Memorial on Southsea seafront starting at 9.30am.

In Havant a parade will leave the Ex-Servicemens Club, in Brockhampton Lane, at 10.30am and marches to the war memorial at St Faith’s Church for a service at 11am. A service at Fareham’s Trinity Church in West Street will start at 10am.
