Royal Marines band raises a smile for Red Nose Day

WORKERS at Portsmouth Naval Base stopped and smiled this morning as members of the Royal Marines School of Music marched past in their red noses.

The 35-strong Royal Marines School of Music Band marched and played for 40 minutes around the base, collecting money on the way from military and civilian workers.

The band’s director of music, Major Jason Burcham, said: ‘We were really pleased to be doing our bit for Comic Relief with a march, music and a few red noses.

‘We’re still counting the money but we certainly raised a smile on the faces of sailors, Royal Marines and civilians all around the naval base so it was a job well done.’
