SAILORS will find out who is facing the axe in early April. The government announced 5,000 sailors will be made redundant as a result of last year’s Strategic Defence and Security Review.

The navy will announce which specialisations and branches are being considered for the chop, inviting sailors to come forward to accept voluntary redundancy. Redundancy notices will then be issued in September this year.
