A ROYAL Navy sailor who took stunning images of the last of the Type 42 destroyers HMS Edinburgh from the air has won a photographic award.

Leading Airman Dan Rosenbaum, 33, took the photograph of HMS Edinburgh sailing in a perfect circle as she demonstrated her capabilities while on her final deployment to the South Atlantic and the US earlier this year.

He put forward the image to the annual Peregrine Trophy awards – and has today been chosen as the winner of the Best Maritime Image category.

He said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to have won the Best Maritime Image award – it means a lot to me to have my work recognised in this way.’
