A FORMER crew member of a Second World War-era submarine is planning a reunion.

Terry Fearnley served on board HMS Alliance, which has now seen a £7m refurbishment and sits at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum in Gosport.

Mr Fearnley, who served on the submarine from 1968 to 1971, wants as many former crew as possible to get together for a reunion next year.

He said: ‘I decided that after the successful year we have had with the reopening in April and the rededication by Prince William, that all former crew should have the opportunity to see Alliance in all it’s splendour.’

Former crew now living in Canada, Australia, France and the United Kingdom are coming to the reunion.

Five former captains of Alliance, a first lieutenant and a navigating officer are also coming.

Mr Fearnley added: ‘I have been a guide on board for the last three years so would like to meet up with old shipmates from that time.’

The reunion is planned for July 31 next year at 3pm at the museum.
