SAILORS from HMS Collingwood stepped in to help the people of Portchester set up their Christmas lights.

Eight trainee sailors on the warfare specialist training course at the Fareham naval base took a few hours out of their day to help Portchester Community Association put up lights in the precinct.

Working alongside the association’s volunteers, they put up scaffolding, untangled lights, an decorated the town’s trees.

Sarah Moss, from the community association, said: ‘Once again we were very grateful for the support from the volunteers from HMS Collingwood.’
