MEMBERS of the Royal Navy’s electronic warfare branch at HMS Collingwood have unveiled a bench in memory of colleagues who have given their lives.

More than 80 sailors and officers accompanied by former branch members gathered at the Fareham base for a ceremony of remembrance.

Warrant Officer Reggie Slaughter, the officer in charge of the electronic warfare training element, said: ‘It was a great honour to host the memorial service. The bench is dedicated to all those electronic warfare ratings that have passed away, in and out of service.

‘It was especially significant to see so many veterans in attendance and the number of ratings who joined us from other units in order to pay their respects.’
