Saying goodbye to a much-loved Royal Marine from Havant

PEOPLE will pay their respects to a fallen marine tomorrow as his funeral cortege passes through the centre of Havant.

The funeral service of Marine David O’Connor takes place at St Faith’s Church, in West Street, at 2pm.

People wishing to pay their respects to Cpl O’Connor should gather at 1.30pm in West Street.

The cortege will travel down the precinct from the direction of Park Road South.

The funeral is with full military honours and there are expected to be a large number of services personnel.

As previously reported, the 27-year-old, of West Street, of 40 Commando, died after being attacked on patrol in Afghanistan last month.

The family has chosen the Royal Marines Charitable Trust Fund as their charity. Donations should be made payable to the funeral director, Chester Pearce Associates Ltd, and sent c/o 10, Brookside Road, Wimborne, Dorset, BH21 2BL.
