A TEAM of Royal Navy sailors raised cash for a good cause with a sunrise to sunset golf challenge.

The team of four from HMS Collingwood set themselves the challenge to fundraise for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The objective of the event, which took place at Skylark Golf and Country Club in Whiteley, was to play four consecutive rounds of golf between 6am and 9.30pm on the longest day of the year.

With handicaps ranging from 7 to 22, Petty Officer David Marshal, PO Kristian Hughes, PO Neil Dickinson and PO Matthew Somerville got stuck into the challenge, covering 23 miles on foot over the course of 15 hours.

Organiser Matthew said: ‘It’s a very relatable charity as most of the team have been affected by the disease in some way or another. Our colleagues have supported us with this challenge, from baking cakes to donating and promoting the event.’

The team raised more than £1,000.
