THE impact of the Georgian-era Royal Navy on Gosport is the subject of a talk at the Royal Navy Submarine Museum.

Local historian Mike Williams will be giving the latest Third Thursday Talk at the museum on November 21 at 7pm.

Mr Williams is an ex-dockyard sailmaker and will be discussing the development of sites at Haslar, Royal Clarence Yard and Priddy’s Hard.

He said: ‘Through my research, I am constantly amazed by the extent of the support Gosport has provided over the centuries to the royal navy.’

Tickets for the talk cost £10 each.

All profits go to Saving HMS Alliance Appeal.

Alliance is the museum’s Second World War era submarine which is undergoing a £6.7m refurbishment.

It has now had an external lift installed as part of the conservation project.
