THEY carried out six raids on drug-carrying vessels and seized more than £160m of narcotics from smugglers on the seas.

Now the ship’s company of HMS Lancaster has been presented with the Royal Navy’s Frigate Effectiveness Trophy while alongside in Portsmouth.

The award recognises a successful 12 months for the ship, after she was put through training, carried out a visit to London, and deployed to the North Atlantic.

Commander Peter Laughton, the ship’s commanding officer, said: ‘What Lancaster has achieved over the last 12 months is nothing short of remarkable.’
