FLAGS were raised to mark the countdown to Sunday’s Armed Forces Day.

The mayor of Fareham, Councillor David Norris, was joined by representatives from HMS Collingwood, the Royal Air Force and the Royal British Legion for the flag raising ceremony in Fareham town centre yesterday.

Cllr Norris said: ‘In raising the flag, Fareham shows its support for the men and women of Her Majesty’s armed forces, past and present, who continue to meet the very difficult challenge of maintaining the defence of the realm.’
