A NEW documentary series following HMS Manchester on her final deployment is to be broadcast next week.

The ship, which will make her last ever entrance in to Portsmouth Harbour on February 17, was filmed for Royal Navy Caribbean Patrol - HMS Manchester during her recent seven-month tour of duty hunting drug smugglers.

The first weekly episode of the series will be broadcast on Monday on Channel Five at 9pm. Meanwhile, the ship’s company will exercise their right to parade as Freemen through its affiliated city of Manchester for the last time on Saturday.

The Portsmouth-based Type 42 destroyer is set to be decommissioned next month.

The decision was made prior to last year’s defence cuts.
