THE Royal Navy is investigating after two ships had to be assisted into Portsmouth Harbour.

HMS Smiter, a patrol boat, and HMS Ledbury, a mine countermeasures vessel, both had to be taken into the harbour yesterday by tugs. The navy said there were two separate incidents on board the ships which required the help of tugs.

A spokeswoman would not reveal the nature of the incidents but said they were not connected and nobody was injured.
