RUGBY lovers can watch the Royal Navy compete in Portsmouth this week.
The Royal Navy Rugby Union enters the Babcock 2012 Inter Services Competition on Wednesday at the United Service Sports Ground, Burnaby Road, Portsmouth.
The RN Senior XV has to overcome the RAF Senior XV who have already faced the Army at RAF Halton losing 59-0. The kick-off is at 7pm.
Before the main event there are two other games to be contested, the first of these starts at 2pm as the Navy Women take on the RAF Women.
In this contest, the series stands in favour of the RAF.
However, two years ago when the teams last met in Portsmouth the Royal Navy Women ran out victors 14-11.
The second game sees the RN Mariners face the RAF Vultures – kick off 4pm.
The Mariners’ meeting with the Vultures at Newbury last year provided a ‘try fest’ as the men in navy blue ran out convincing winners by 40 points to 3.
The Babcock Inter Services Competition culminates at Twickenham on Saturday April, 18, with the traditional battle between the Royal Navy and the Army.
A crowd of almost 60,000 strong is expected.
Entry to the ground is free and all games will be covered by British Forces Broadcasting Service and up to the minute Twitter feeds @RNRugby.
