A £4.5m project to extend the galleries at the Historic Dockyard has begun.
The new exhibition will tell the story of the Royal Navy through the eyes of veterans – from 1900, through the First World War, the Battle of Jutland, and right up to the Navy’s present role in Afghanistan.
It will mark more than 100 years of naval history and is scheduled to open on the 100th anniversary of the Great War.
The £4.5m project, with support of £1.4m from the Heritage Lottery Fund, is creating new gallery spaces and exhibitions as part of the Storehouse 10 development, engaging people locally and nationally with the story of the Royal Navy.
