Residents of Denmead have voted in favour of the development plan for the area.

They were asked to decide whether to adopt the Denmead Neighbourhood Plan which sets out a blueprint on where houses should be built and key priorities, such as protecting the Denmead Gap.

Despite a strong no campaign from some residents it was a landslide victory for those in favour with 1,546 for and 785 against.

Denmead Parish Council Council chairman Neil Lander-Brinkley said: ‘This is the first referendum on a neighbourhood plan in Hampshire. It is a clear result and I’m glad that the people of Denmead have chosen to have a clear way forward for the village.’
