A MUSEUM lost out in a national competition for family friendliness.

The Diving Museum, in Gosport, was one of six museums short-listed for the Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Award.

The attraction, on Stokes Bay Road, beat 850 other venues across the country to be a finalist but was pipped to the post by Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery, in Carlisle, at the ceremony yesterday.

Over the summer all of the finalists were visited by undercover families who marked them on a number of criteria including how they interacted with children.
