AN old atmospheric diving suit is proving popular as people pack out the Gosport Diving Museum.

The Iron Man is a diving suit which was once used to send people to 320ft below the surface of the sea. It is now on show at the museum alongside world record-breaking diving bells and chambers.

John Bevan, chairman of the Historical Diving Society, said: ‘It’s amazing. At the moment it’s outside at the front of the museum. Our visitor numbers are high on the last few days – we think it’s attracting people in. We are delighted.’

The museum, which opened for its second season last Saturday, is now open every weekend and bank holiday from 11am until 5pm, until the end of October.
