THE death of a long lost sister is the inspiration behind a new art project.

Dayvid Ryan, from Chichester, is collecting old art materials such as paint brushes, canvases and paints, in order to create 15 large paintings.

He will stream his painting live on the internet and when the pictures are completed they will be auctioned off to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Mr Ryan, 51, said: ‘I am doing this because I lost my sister to cancer four years ago but I only found out in August last year due us losing touch 10-years-ago.

‘This horrible disease touches most of us at some time in our lives and the work that Marie Curie nurses do is essential for a patients final days and I want to raise as much money as I can for them.’

Painting materials can dropped off at the Chichester Observer office in Eastgate Square.
