It had all the key ingredients for a romantic getaway, but unfortunately love did not blossom for Portsmouth’s Trudy Nelson.
The 25-year-old had been competing for romance with 29 other girls on ITV show Take Me Out, which is hosted by Paddy McGuinness.
Last week, Trudy, a call centre worker and fashion shop owner from Eastney, was whisked away by Jon Zhang, a stuntman from Oxford, for a date.
She was impressed by the 28-year old’s martial arts skill and his musical talent, after he performed a piece by Beethoven, and she left her light on for Jon.
He chose her to go on a date with, and they set off to enjoy some time on the Isle of Fernando’s, a fictional location based in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
Once there they enjoyed horse riding, before getting to know one another over dinner on a terrace looking over the sea.
However the pair did not have as much in common as first thought and Trudy, who previously admitted to being one of the fussiest girls on the show, did not want to take things further.
She said that the friendship was ‘lacking chemistry.’
She told him: ‘I think we get along amazingly but I think romantically I don’t know if there’s anything there.’
Smooth-talking Jon took it on the chin.
He said: ‘She’s a wonderful person but not the right one for me.’
