PRETTY posies helped raise a pretty penny for the Queen Alexandra Hospital’s neo-natal unit.

Members of the Fareham Flower Club raised £953 in one day by selling the posies after the unit was chosen as the group’s annual cause.

Sixteen-month-old twins Zachary and Reuben Smith, the grandsons of club secretary Sandy Mitchell, were the reason they were all there.

The boys were born 12 weeks premature and have suffered health problems as a result, but staff at the neo-natal unit gave the family huge support.

The boys’ mum Haanagh Smith, from Whiteley, joined the club members at the stall in Fareham Shopping Centre on Saturday and said: ‘It was a very positive day, everyone was very enthusiastic – it’s a cause that touched a lot of people’s hearts. Thank you to everyone who supported it.’
