PEOPLE in Fareham have a few days left to enter this year’s Fareham in Bloom competition.

The community gardening competition has 21 categories to choose from with judging taking place at the beginning of July for awards of Bronze, Silver, Silver Gilt and Gold.

Fareham in Bloom forms part of the Bringing People and Parks Together initiative which aims to encourage participation in parks, horticulture and gardening.

Each year hundreds of residents take part in support of the campaign which has now been running for 17 years.

Councillor Connie Hockley, executive member for leisure and community, said: ‘The competition gives an opportunity for Fareham Borough Council to acknowledge the dedication, time and hard work that the residents have put into their gardens contributing to the borough’s visual amenity and beauty.’

The winners will be announced at a special presentation evening in September at Ferneham Hall.

The closing date for entries is Friday, June 22. An application form can be found online at or contact the Horticultural Development Officer on 01329 824543.
