CHARITIES across the area could be entitled to a share of £375,000 in match funding.

Localgiving.com supports local charities through the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation.

By making a donation to a charity via Localgiving.com donors can double their gift and the charity receives twice the support because the gift is matched.

Gift Aid adds another 25 per cent.

It goes live on March 1.

Any charities and groups who would like to take part but are not registered should contact HIWCF at localgiving@hantscf.org.uk to find out if they can register and take part in this initiative.

Localgiving.com supports all local charities but is the only website in the country that enables community organisations that are too small to register with the Charity Commission to benefit from a simple and central online-giving site.

In return, charities can take advantage of online marketing and donation tools and become more easily accessible to donors.

It costs £6 a month to register.

Toni Shaw, chief executive of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation said: ‘We are delighted to be running this initiative which will enable groups and charities across the Portsmouth area to raise additional funds in support of their local people and communities.
